Voltex (Pty) Ltd is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the role of Storeman for their Blackheath branch. This incumbent will be reporting to the Branch Manager.
The purpose of this role is to is to assist in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the warehouse.
The key tasks & responsibilities for this position are to:
- Maintain the warehouse including general upkeep and cleaning
- Label all inventory items
- Ensure that all stock are in the correct bin locations
- Assist with receiving of stock, checking stock and packing stock away
- Assist in pulling stock for customers orders
- Execute regular/weekly cycle counts
- Assist in stock take preparation
- Investigate stock variances and report them to branch manager
- Assist other departments with backlogs when necessary
The key educational requirements and experience for this position would be:
- Matric / Equivalent is a MUST
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in a warehouse / handling stock environment is an ADAVANTAGE
- Good electrical product knowledge
- Knowledge of warehouse processes
- Knowledge of relative safety standards protective clothing
The desired skills and competencies required for this position amongst others would be:
- Physical stamina; must have strong physical endurance to lift, stand, bend, and carry boxes
- Critical thinking; ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Maths skills; ability to calculate loads and add up items on invoices and bills of lading
- Attention to detail; being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks
- Reading comprehension; ability to match orders to items being received or shipped
- Dependable; being reliable, responsible, and fulfilling obligations
- Co-operative attitude; being pleasant with others on the job
- Ability to work independently in a team and under pressure with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external customers
